In 1905, American inventor Mary Anderson (pictured above) invented the windshield wiper. Her patent drawings are also pictured above.

Progress, progress.........an Italian firm has unveiled a car with a self-cleaning windshield. The window uses a special oxide to repel water and employs an array of tiny nozzles that project high-pressure water and air to clean away the dirt. It makes sense that a woman invented windshield wipers - now if they can just figure out how cars can self-wash and self-vacuum……….
