Reuters is reporting that a man in England spent $12,000 on an engagement ring and had the balloon inserted into a helium balloon. The idea? When he "popped" the question, his lucky fiancee would "pop" the balloon. But - as all mothers know, helium balloons have a tricky way of escaping (in my view, the more tired and cranky the child and mother, the faster the balloon will escape from the little hand). As he left the store, the balloon escaped and flew away......... He says he chased the balloon in his car.........his girlfriend sounds a bit miffed. He is quoted as saying "I felt like such a plonker. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me"
