Some words are more inferior copy-catish than others........

Word of the Day for Friday, April 25, 2008

epigone \EP-uh-gohn\, noun: An inferior imitator, especially of some distinguished writer, artist, musician, or philosopher.

He probably was influenced by John le Carré. . . . But Mr. Crisp . . . is no mere epigone.
-- Newgate Callendar, "Who's The Mole?", New York Times, October 9, 1988

Am I the only person that would wonder if that word should be pronounced "ee-pig-on-ee"?

I think you must have studied too much Classical literature (ie pronunciation of Antigone).

I was thinking of "epitome" when I read the word (no classics for me) I agree with Krista on this
