Today's Dictionary.com Word of the Day
Deus ex machina: an agent who appears unexpectedly to solve an apparently insoluble difficulty.
I'm not sure it is "a" word, but a phrase - but still - it is a phrase that can really impress your family and friends. Pronounce it this way - DAY-uhs-eks-MAH-kuh-nuh
And a thought of the day to go with it: "In times of affluence and peace, with technology that always seems to arrive like a deus ex machina to solve any problem, it becomes easy to believe that life is perfectible."
