There is no such thing as a free sofa.....

A little while back, I was helping my friend* pack up her parents for their move into an assisted living facility. They had accumulated years of books, records, videos, furnishings, decorations - there were boxes and boxes of things to be packed up for charity. And there was this lovely sofa - and it was free! Free, I tell you.**

My friend* had the sofa delivered to my house. But alas, in order to make it a more perfect sofa, the room needed repainting. The ceiling needed repainting, the trim needed repainting, the built-in bookcases needed repainting.....and the old drapes would need to be replaced. And so the work began - and so my blogging had to stop for a few days while we worked on giving the free couch a nice new home. This photo shows you the lengths I will go to save money and make more work for myself. I like to call this brilliant invention "box holder for curtain rings"

These curtain rings used to be white, but now they will match the walls. We painted and painted over the last few days - I have purchased new fabric to make curtains - and today we had the carpet cleaned. All because of a free sofa.....

I am impressed with your desire to save money. The curtains rings is creative, would not have thought of repainting like that. I bet that the room looks wonderful with the free sofa.
