In with the New Year, Off with the Old Roof.......

It rains a lot here in Vancouver (and it can even snow a lot here, about once every forty years). And so, every so often, water starts to plague our lives. Water seeping up from the storm sewer - been there, done that. Water flooding into the house from broken water mains - yep. And for the last month or so, a leaking roof. So to start off the new year (now that the snow has melted and workers can get onto the roof) it is time for a new roof. Except for the large expense, how bad can this be you might ask. Well, the skylights will have to be removed and reset - which will mean paint damage on the inside....and the leaking has stained the ceiling.....and...yep, I guess the whole kitchen will need to be repainted. A new year's project..... the slippery slope.....paint on ceilings and new colour on the walls - can painting the cabinets and getting new hardware be far behind? When I see this picture, I am reminded that I detest the useless halogen track lights and the chandelier could use an update.....the slippery slope.......So, if you see me in the next few weeks, speckled with paint and in a foul mood, you will know why......

From the picture, your kitchen looks pretty good, just the way it is. What a pretty ceiling! If you're checking out new chandeliers (and why would you?) those chandeliers at Resto Hardware that look like a row of glowing candles would look great in your kitchen.
