World's Best Invention? Happy Birthday BabyBro...

Tomorrow my baby brother turns 50....happy birthday to him. What better gift could I send him than a photo of ketchup? Miley Cyrus appeared on The Jay Leno Show the other night and proclaimed her love of ketchup (and stated that Heinz was her favourite brand). Our family loves ketchup - my secondborn, son and heir has believed from birth that ketchup is actually a vegetable. A family breakfast? pass the ketchup please......grilled cheese? don't bother having one if there is no ketchup....french fries? (or whatever they are called these days) taste best only with Heinz. Restaurants that don't serve Heinz? shame on you.

Salsa is another condiment/vegetable that is loved by everyone in the family - home-made being the best (but that is another post altogether). We are a proud condiment family - there have been no food naturists or purists in a few generations - although I'm not sure any of the family has ever chugged ketchup (we prefer chugging things that are distilled). Happy birthday little brother - and pass the ketchup please.

I have to agree Heinz ketchup is the only way to go. I buy store brand everything except for ketchup.

In an America's Test Kitchen taste test, the majority of the experts chose Hunt's Tomato Ketchup over Heinz. It is the new king of ketchups.

You love trivia, try this without googling:

What was Heinz's first product?

A clue, it wasn't tomato ketchup (or toemarto sawce as I would say), that came much later!

Without googling (honest) could the answer be? In 1869
Henry J. Heinz and L. Clarence Noble launch Heinz & Noble and laid the groundwork for today's global company. The first product was Henry's mother's "pure and superior" grated horseradish, bottled in clear glass to show its purity.

Yeah, that was my guess all along

I'm going to guess "horseradish"....thanks to Anonymous for the hint.

Amazing, just how did you guess it. Surprisingly you also agree with Stephen Fry on BBC's QI programme! Miracles will never cease.

Hey Krista what about adding a trivia question of the day under tuesday movies?
