Think of how many children will be delighted if you purchase the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel. The historic ferris wheel is being offered for sale on EBay, with a reserve price of $50,000. The ferris wheel originally cost about $800,000 - it is a big monster - 122,000 pounds, 90 feet tall and 30 feet wide. At night, the wheel is illuminated by 5,392 light bulbs. The ferris wheel will be replaced with a newer model.
We had a fabulous day on the Santa Monica Pier last year - a three generation group of us - my mother, 2 out of her three children and 3 out of her three grandchildren (and assorted significant others) spent a wonderful day on the rides and enjoying the Santa Monica Arts Festival. So if I had a spare $50,000 and a place to put the ferris wheel (plus the cost of shipping this monster) then I might consider it*
