Another Day, another Storm (or two)....

We are leaving Palm Springs, CA this morning. This place was hopping over the weekend - Memorial Day weekend - and everyone arrived in Palm Springs to enjoy the heat and sun......except that there was no sun and heat. Our drive from Laughlin, NV through the desert started out in a huge tropical rain storm and we drove through more rain storms until we reached Palm Springs. There were clouds and rain as we arrived in Palm Springs - and the temperature was in the high 60's..... Yesterday there was some clear blue skies in the morning....but then the clouds arrived again......and it was only in the 70's..... The kids staying at the hotel all loved the pools, but the parents were covered in jackets sitting at poolside. We toodled around and were surprised at how busy and vibrant everything was.......restaurants and stores were jammed......

Other than experiencing flash floods and torrential rains in all the deserts we have crossed so far, we enjoyed seeing Joshua Tree (and the trees of course), visiting the Salton Sea and mostly imagining life in Palm Springs as elegant retirees.......

We are off today traveling north through California. As my sister and I will meet our second cousin in Salem, Oregon on Thursday, out trip north will be leisurely....... If all goes well, we will be in Vancouver on Friday!! This Friday.........imagine.....

Miguel has been getting some injections for his low blood counts......he has some kind of new infection, so is running a fever.....I suspect his dental surgery will be postponed........he is anxious for all this to be over.......he was feeling so elated and strong.....

Onwards and upwards for Karen and Krista, the weary travelers...........

Hi there--

It sounds like some wicked driving. Let's hope from here on, the weather co-operates and it is smooth sailing right up to Vancouver. You must be so excited to get home.
I hope that Miquel starts to feel better and that he will be joining you before you know it.

Hi Krista - have been monitoring your movements! Looking forward to a lazy afternoon featuring lotsa wine - good old pals from Vancouver and a chorus of well wishers awaiting Miguel's return. Kilby
