Palm Springs - an elixir for March rain........

I returned from warm, sunny, bright Palm Springs this week. After a week of not blogging - dang it, I can't figure out how to access my blog on my Blackberry, I am slow to report in. I had a wonderful restful and restorative time in Palm Springs hanging out with my friend Leslie. Leslie is a talented woman - a former lawyer, now artist. You can see her works here. It was fun to see Palm Springs through her eyes - looking at the architecture, visiting the La Quinta Arts Festival, touring impressive homes sponsored by the Jewish Family Services 'Behind the Gates of Old Palm Springs', checking out the current offerings of the Art Gallery. I was happy to immerse myself in Leslie's pursuit of design and architecture but blessedly there were also the obligatory trips to Costco for California wines, cruising the aisles at Trader Joe's and mandatory margaritas at poolside.
Now for the strange thing - Leslie and I have been friends for almost 25 years. She was my editor for many years in legal publishing. We always have lots of fun when we are together - either alone or with our significant others. But - we are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to political, social or religious issues. I can't think of one thing we agree on. Add in the above-mentioned California wines and margaritas and you can imagine how much we talked and debated.
Funnily enough our differences didn't matter really - we had lots of fun debating and arguing in the pool (with wine and margaritas) and although unmoved and unpersuaded by her positions I can't imagine having a more stellar week of vacation than I did with my friend Leslie last week.
Next year - more March in Palm Springs.
