I didn't discover the joy of pedicures until a few years ago. I don't need manicures, because I have ripped and torn fingernails. This article in the NYTimes documents a 7 year old girl's birthday party complete with mani’s, pedi’s and mini-makeovers with light makeup and body art — glitter-applied stars, lightning bolts and, of course, hearts. The article explains how cosmetic companies and retailers are increasingly tailoring their products and service packages to the 6- to 9-year-old set. KGOY, “kids getting older younger,” is the trend.
I have my own suggestions for categories to add: ODWY, "oldies desperately wanting youth" or in my case, "O - WTF?", you can figure that one out.....
