A week at the quidnuncs....

All has been crazy in the quidnunc household. My mother was loopy and sick all week after her accident - turns out (after we went back to emergency) that she had a concussion even though she didn't hit her head. She is sore and weak and....yes....still a bit loopy. She is living here and that hasn't been easy. She will be 89 next month and this accident has precipitated changes - she won't be able to drive anymore (her car is a write-off and her doctor will now hopefully not permit her to drive) and a CT Scan has shown some ischemia (I had to look it up) - which means that her brain may be aging faster than her body. Luckily, girlchild is here with me - but that is only for another week. Boychild will come in for a visit too, so that is a great thing......

I am not the only one dealing with aging parents - my friend Cheri moved both her parents into an assisted living facility last week, only to have them take a cab back to their house an hour later! Another friend figured this all out about a year ago and although her parents had mixed feelings about giving up independent living, they have adjusted well to an assisted living facility. I am pretty sure my mother won't make anything easy.....why start at 89??

Now for some smiles.......

Krista,
Sorry to hear about the challenges you face. I think that there are serious challenges for you and you are rapidly becoming aware of them as you move through these issues.
All the best, I know that this will not be easy.
